How to merge PDF files and choose their page order

Combine PDFs locally in your browser, reorder the input files, and choose page organization or alternating pages when needed.

Steps at a glance

  1. Add the PDFs and arrange the filenames in the order you want.
  2. Merge and download the new PDF.
  3. Check page boundaries; use Organize PDF for individual-page changes.

Choose whole files or individual pages

Merging appends documents in sequence: all pages of the first file, then all pages of the second. If you need to change individual page positions, remove pages or rotate them, use Organize PDF after merging. Keep source copies so you can revise the result without depending on a previous download.

Combine files in the browser

Open Merge PDF and add at least two PDFs. Use the arrows beside the filenames to put the documents in the intended order. This original browser tool processes document contents on your device; it does not upload the files to the PDF-processing server. Its limits are 25 MB per file and 100 MB combined.

Use alternate mixing for interleaved scans

Two-sided scans can arrive as two files: one for fronts and one for backs. Alternate & mix PDF takes pages from each input in turns. You can reverse the second file if its backs were scanned in reverse order and choose the number of pages per turn. Unlike the browser merge tool, alternate mixing uses the server with consent and has its own 10 MB per-file and 20 MB combined limits.

Check sensitive document features

Open the merged result and verify page order, orientation and the pages around each document boundary. Do not assume a certificate-based digital signature remains valid after changing a document. Password-protected files should be unlocked with the known password before using tools that cannot open encrypted inputs.
